Who We Are

Karuna Family Law

Karuna was established in Bangkok to fill a gap that many international and Thai families had felt for years: a family law practice where clients are treated as people first and cases second. The word karuna — compassion in Pali — reflects the spirit in which we approach every matter.

Our team works primarily with families facing decisions around marriage, separation, and the care of children. We understand that these are not routine transactions. They carry emotional weight, and they have lasting effects on the people involved. That understanding shapes the way we work at every step.

Whether you are planning ahead with a prenuptial agreement, working through maintenance arrangements, or trying to put fair custody terms in place for your children, we bring the same patient, principled approach to the matter.

Our Mission

To provide family law services in Thailand that are clear, fair, and conducted with genuine respect for the people we work with.

Standards

How We Work

Our working practices reflect our commitment to both professional quality and genuine care for the people we advise.

Thai Bar Association Membership

All practitioners are registered with the Thai Bar Association, upholding the ethical and professional standards required of legal professionals in Thailand.

Strict Confidentiality

We adhere to professional confidentiality obligations in all client relationships. No personal information is shared without explicit consent.

Document Accuracy

Every agreement and legal document we prepare is reviewed for legal accuracy and practical clarity before it is presented to the client for consideration.

Clear Communication

We translate legal language into plain English. Clients should understand every step, not simply trust that things are being handled correctly.

Impartial Advice

Our role is to advise, not to advocate for a particular outcome. We present the range of options available and support you in choosing the path that fits your situation.

Data Protection

We handle all personal data in accordance with Thailand's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), ensuring your information is stored and used responsibly.

About Our Work

Family Law in Thailand — What to Expect

Family law matters in Thailand are governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, which covers marriage, divorce, maintenance, and parental rights. The legal framework is well-established, and outcomes can often be reached through agreements between the parties — without the need for protracted court proceedings.

At Karuna, we work with clients to understand their circumstances and then explain the options available under Thai law. For many families, a well-prepared prenuptial agreement or a thoughtful custody arrangement avoids future disputes and provides a stable foundation for the years ahead.

We work with both Thai nationals and members of Bangkok's international community. Many of our clients are navigating family matters across more than one legal jurisdiction, and we help them understand how Thai law applies to their specific situation. Our services are conducted in English, and we aim to make every stage of the process as straightforward and stress-free as possible.
